This is possibly one of the most popular street foods and the US is where it tastes the best outside of Italy. There are many respectable pizza joints out there, and the differences are usually only in small details. But, never the less, our chef has picked out the top 5 pizza joints in the US.
The Criteria
Taste is criterion #1 of course, but what to do when they all taste so good? This is when you need to factor in the dough. Is crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside? The topping quality and combination are important, of course. And, price is a big factor as well as spices, so here goes.

Pizza Rock joint is highly respected by all the locals and people down in Las Vegas who know what’s happening. The restaurant serves gourmet pizzas, all kinds of shapes and sizes, hand-crafted by artists. Yes, their chefs are both artists and artisans.
4. Post Office Pies | Location: Avondale, Alabama
Post Office Pies is a weird name, we know, but the pizza will bring you home. This restaurant is the pride and joy of entire Alabama and their wood-fired pizza will make everyone’s visit an instant delight. They serve classic Italian recipes and a few unique variations also. Not to be missed if you get the chance!
3. Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana | Location: New Haven, Connecticut
The people of New Haven are lucky. They can eat a piece of heaven every day. Just look at that crunchy thin crust and the perfectly fired sausages on top… They are known for switching their menu depending on the seasons. Anyone passing through desires a slice.
2. Emilia’s | Location: Berkley, California
We are approaching critical mass as this pizza place, simply called Emilia’s, might just be the reason why people in Berkley sometimes wait for up to 4 hours for one of these. Yeah, it’s no joke. Emilia’s official website admits that it could be anywhere from 10 minutes to four whole hours. But, the wait is worth it, that’s all we can say.

And, the winner is Timbeeeeeeeeer! This is just symbolic, as any of these 5 could be #1. But, our staff loved the Mediterranean style topping on this delight. Timber Pizza Co. has put Washington D. C. on the pizza map. The one you see in the photo is the Bentley pizza (Peruvian sweet peppers, tomato sauce, mozzarella and provolone, cured chorizo, spicy honey, and soppressata.
