In 1974, Henry Kissinger and Nancy Maginnes got married in Arlington, Virginia. The couple wasted no time, immediately jetting off to Acapulco for a Mexican honeymoon. This unexpected union was revealed by former Gov. Nelson A. Rockefeller during a speech in Chicago, surprising many, even media men who had no hints about the wedding.
Nancy had previously worked for Rockefeller, specializing in foreign-policy matters, while Henry, a part-time consultant to Rockefeller, later joined the Nixon Administration in 1969. Following their wedding, the small luncheon was a private affair as it was attended by selected but notable figures like Joseph Alsop and Gen. Brent Scowcroft.
