Celebrities You Never Knew Changed Their Names

Elton John – Real Name: Reginald Kenneth Dwight

One of the most popular entertainers of the late 20th century, Elton John, is a pianist, singer, and composer whose recording career has seen the sale of hundreds of millions of records. He was born Reginald Kenneth Dwight, but in May 1972, he legally changed his name to Elton Hercules John.

He picked the name to honor two musicians: Long John Baldry, a singer, and Elton Dean, a saxophonist. John established himself as a major international sensation with his self-titled debut album in 1970. In 2021, he became the first solo musician to have UK Top 10 singles across six decades.
