Celebrities You Never Knew Changed Their Names
John Legend – Real Name: John Roger Stephens
Born into a musically-gifted family, John Legend is a singer-songwriter who rose to fame in the early 21st century. He was the first African-American to win the Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony. Legend seems to have the ideal moniker for the world of showbiz, especially with legendary songs like “Conversations in the Dark,” “All Of Me,” and “Ordinary People.”
Thanks to Kanye West, he changed his last name. West persuaded him to drop his formal name, John Roger Stephens, in favor of a new one that he claimed reflected an old-school sound. Legend’s seventh studio album, “Bigger Love,” was released in 2020.
