From Hogwarts to Hollywood: The Enduring Careers of Harry Potter Stars

Kenneth Branagh – Gilderoy Lockhart

Gilderoy Lockhart, brilliantly portrayed by Kenneth Branagh, may have been a bumbling narcissist, but he sure had a killer smile. The charm of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art’s president made the “Harry Potter” character, despite his incompetence, oddly endearing. The Professor of Defence Against the Dark Arts weaved a spell of false bravado and charisma that intrigued fans.

Beyond Hogwarts, Kenneth made his mark as both a director and actor in a plethora of Shakespearean adaptations, including “Henry V,” “Hamlet,” and “Othello.” His talents in front of and behind the camera have earned him numerous awards, from Best Actor to Best Director and even Best Screenplay.
