Hollywood’s Ageless Stars: How These Celebrities Defy Time!

Lizzie Velásquez – Born in 1989

Lizzie Velásquez was born on March 13, 1989, in Austin, Texas, and is the eldest of three sisters (Rita and Guadalupe Velásquez). She was born premature at 8 months gestation, weighing only 999 g. Her rare condition was diagnosed at the age of 23, in September 2012, just as she was about to graduate with a degree in Communication from Texas State University. She is Catholic and has spoken about her belief in God, stating, “He blessed me with the greatest blessing of my life, which is my syndrome.”

Velásquez suffers from an extremely rare condition of which only two cases are known, including hers. As a result of this rare syndrome, her body fat level is 0%, and she weighs only 29kg (64 pounds). She cannot gain weight and needs to eat small amounts several times a day. She is blind in her right eye and has limited vision in the other. Her condition is similar to many others, especially progeria. Lizzie exhibits some physical progeroid characteristics, such as a pointed nose and aged skin. In addition to her medical diagnosis, she has other health issues, but her condition is not terminal. Several medical researchers at the University of Texas Southeast Medical Center have studied her and have suggested that her condition may be a form of neonatal progeria syndrome, which, at least, has not affected her skeletal system, organs, or teeth. Her condition is believed to be non-hereditary
