Dolores Conchita Figueroa del Rivero, known as Chita Rivera, was a renowned American actress, singer, and dancer. Throughout her career, she starred in successful Broadway musicals, including Chicago, Kiss of the Spider Woman, and Nine, earning accolades such as two Tony Awards. Born in Washington D.C. in 1933, of Puerto Rican, Scottish, Irish, and African-American descent, Rivera made her Broadway debut in 1952 and gained prominence in West Side Story in the 1950s.

Over her career, she received acclaim for her roles in various musicals, becoming the first woman of Hispanic descent to receive the Kennedy Center Honors (2002) and the Presidential Medal of Freedom (2009). Despite a car accident in 1986, Rivera continued to shine on stage with memorable performances in Sweet Charity, The Visit, Chicago, Pippin, and Kiss of the Spider Woman.
