Captain Reynolds called out, “Steward!” as one of his crew members stepped forward, eyeing the bear cautiously from their 12-foot perch. “Yes, Captain. What can I do for you?” Steward replied, glancing between the captain and the polar bear. Unlike Reynolds, not everyone shared the captain’s fascination.
“Get me the radio, or stay here and keep a close eye on the bear. We need to figure out what it wants,” Reynolds commanded. Steward’s face turned pale. “I… I’ll get the radio, Sir,” he stammered before quickly scurrying off to fetch it, hoping the captain wouldn’t change his mind and leave him bear-watching.
