In the late 1970s, Liza Minnelli, fresh from her “Cabaret” Oscar win, dazzled Studio 54 in an all-white outfit, dancing with the charismatic Sterling Saint Jacques. This vintage image speaks volumes of a period in the history of the USA marked by a shift towards hedonistic fun as war veterans turned to music to cope with the loss and grief.
