People often say that baseball is a game of inches, and Sophia Minnaert learned this first hand in 2013. After all, if Minnaert, a sideline reporter for Fox Sports, had stood just a couple of inches to one side, she would not have endured her scare with stray baseball.
The incident took place just before the top of the third inning of the Pirates’ 5-2 win over the Brewers. Minnaert was about to present the broadcast’s Twitter poll, when, out of nowhere, a stray ball hit her right hand, sending her microphone flying and leaving her in complete shock! However, pro that she is, Minnaert quickly regained her mic and even finished the segment!
