The drive home felt surprisingly ordinary. Nyx, their newly adopted Cane Corso, stretched out in the backseat, his sharp eyes quietly scanning the passing scenery. Mrs. Johnson glanced back and said, “He’s more relaxed than I thought he’d be.” Mr. Johnson chuckled. “Looks like he’s already part of the family.”
